This place is the street.

 

It is here that culinary gems can be found, at a price affordable to the local public. Prepared to high standards to guarantee a recurring flow of customers, street food is a reflection of a community’s way of life, respectfully made to satisfy the people’s everyday need for savoury nutrition.

 

Finland still has some way to go to reach this status quo. The warm season here is unpredictable and fleeting, and bureaucracy surely does not make matters easier for preparing fresh food outside or for keeping prices low. Street food as a concept has become a hype, yet its general conception remains far from the phenomenon known and appreciated abroad.

 A Seed Within

We drove the tuk tuk from Thailand to Finland in order to bring with us a cultural wave of change: to establish an authentic street food venue here, the first of its kind. Gathering inspiration, recipes and know-how along the way - from the streets of Bangkok, Yangoon, Delhi, Karachi and Istanbul to name but a few - we ultimately completed our journey and then entered its next phase.

 

By sheer luck, Käpylä - a heartfelt district of Helsinki known for its village-like surroundings and strong, active community - proved to be the spot for us to grow the roots of our business. We have been able to realise our dream and evolve year after year over the course of three summer seasons already. The face-to-face encounters we’ve had are innumerable to count, yet it feels like each one has left a meaningful imprint in our hearts. We cannot thank our customers enough for supporting us in their own unique ways, as well as the local community in Käpylä, for embracing our presence with acceptance and curiosity.

The journey within Finland’s bureaucratic jungle has not been an easy one, but we refuse to give up and instead aspire to grow. We believe that together we can bring about a lasting change to the way food is approached here in our precious Northern home, and to make quality nutrition available for all.

 

The next summer awaits! You are most welcomed to join us in creating another season of delicious nourishment, fun circus tricks and a timeless atmosphere. We would love to see you, cook for you and share a moment together under the sun, in the beautiful park we are grateful to reside in.
